Acceptable Behavior
Computer access to the Internet is to be used as a
classroom tool.
Computer access to the Internet is to be used
for research.
Computer access to the Internet is to be used to complete
homework assignments.
Computer access to the Internet is to be used when there is
a place assigned to go and a purpose as given by the teacher.
Unacceptable Behavior
Students are not allowed to use the
computers unless supervised by an adult.
Students are not allowed to use Internet access for
leisurely e-mail.
(There may be an occasional need for students to
e-mail as part of an assignment. A single classroom e-mail account will be used by the
class for the particular assignment under the supervision of the teacher.)
Students are not allowed to
visit any sites that are considered inappropriate for their assignment.
Students are not allowed to visit game sites
unless it supports the curriculum.
Students are not allowed to chat over the
Internet.
Students are not allowed to download any programs
from the Internet.
Students are not allowed to disrupt other student's
work while they are typing an assignment or after the assignment has been saved
to the computer.
Students are not allowed to alter the computer's
settings in any way. This includes the settings of the desktop and Netscape
Navigator.
The students have these rules explained to them
at the beginning of the school year; a chance to ask questions if they did not understand;
and, have been given their first and only warning about inappropriate activity while using
the computers and accessing the Internet.
