Anne Frank was one of the many, 6 000 000 people (mostly Jewish), to be exact, who were killed by the Germans during World War II. Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1939. Anne was the second daughter of Otto and Edith Frank. Both Edith and Otto were from respected German-Jewish families.

As a German-Jewish teenager, she was forced to go into hiding during the Holocaust. Her and her family, along with 4 others, spent 25 months during World War II in a few rooms that were above her father's office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. While she was in hiding, Anne Frank kept a diary, which has become a major piece of history portraying how it was to be a teenager in hiding during the war.

After being betrayed to the Nazis, Anne and her family, and the others who were living with them were arrested and deported to Nazi concentration camps. Nine months after she was arrested, Anne Frank died of typhus in March of 1945 at Bergen-Belsen. She was fifteen years old.

Anne's diary however, was saved by one of the Frank's helpers, Miep Gies. It was first published in 1947. Today, her diary has been translated into 55 languages and is one of the most widely read books in the world.
